Flanders

Set in the Flanders region, this drama follows Andre Demester and his childhood friend Barbe. Demester harbors a secret, painful love for Barbe, who maintains various relationships with other men. The central conflict shifts when Demester and other local young men are recruited to fight in a distant war. While Demester is transformed into a warrior by the brutality and fear of combat, Barbe remains behind, wasting away in solitude as she waits for the soldiers to return.

Written and directed by Bruno Dumont, this was the second film he directed, following Twentynine Palms. The movie stars Adélaïde Leroux as Barbe and Samuel Boidin as André Demester, with Henri Cretel playing Blondel. Produced by companies including ARTE France Cinéma and Pictanovo, the film has a runtime of 91 minutes.
