Shivaay is an action-adventure drama about a mountaineer living in the Himalayas who raises his young daughter alone after her mother, a Bulgarian climber, returns to her own country. When the girl asks to see her mother, he takes her to Bulgaria, where she is abducted by a child-trafficking network. The film follows his attempt to get her back, and his confrontation with the criminal organisation behind the trade.
The film was released in October 2016 and runs 153 minutes. Ajay Devgn directs and stars as Shivaay, with Abigail Eames as his daughter Gaura, Erika Kaar as Olga, Sayesha Saigal as Sati, Ali Kazmi as Major Khan and Aakash Dabhade as an Indian trekker. Sandeep Srivastava wrote the screenplay, and Devgn produced alongside Shreyans Hirawat and Jayantilal Gada for Eros International, Pen India Limited, NH Studioz and Ajay Devgn FFilms. It is the first of the two features Devgn has directed, followed by Bholaa in 2023.
On TMDB the film holds a rating of 5.9 out of 10 from 67 votes, which suggests a modest response from that audience.
