Straight Talk

Shirlee Kenyon leaves her small-town life and an unsatisfying relationship behind and starts over in Chicago. Looking for work at a radio station, she is mistaken for the psychologist booked to host a call-in advice show and is put in front of the microphone. Her plain-spoken manner connects with listeners immediately, and the station hires her, insisting she present herself as a doctor. As her program becomes a hit, a reporter begins looking into her background, and his investigation is complicated by his growing feelings for her.

Straight Talk is a 1992 American romantic comedy directed by Barnet Kellman, written by Craig Bolotin and Patricia Resnick, and produced by Carol Baum, Fred Berner and Robert Chartoff for Hollywood Pictures and Sandollar Productions. Dolly Parton plays Shirlee, with James Woods as the reporter Jack Russell, Griffin Dunne as Alan Riegert, Michael Madsen as Steve, Deirdre O'Connell as Lily and John Sayles as Guy Girardi. The film runs 91 minutes.
