100 Rifles

Set in Mexico around 1910, 100 Rifles follows Yaqui Joe, a half-Yaqui man who robs an Arizona bank to buy weapons for his people's struggle against the Mexican army. The lawman Lyedecker pursues him across the border, and both are soon captured by General Verdugo, who is waging a brutal campaign against the Yaqui. The two escape, join the resistance in the hills, and meet Sarita, a Yaqui freedom fighter, whose cause pushes Lyedecker to reconsider where his loyalties lie. The plot draws on the two men's reluctant partnership as they work to arm the rebels, with a railroad robbery among their targets.

Tom Gries directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Clair Huffaker, marking his second feature behind the camera after Will Penny, and later followed by Lady Ice, Breakheart Pass and Breakout. Jim Brown and Raquel Welch lead the cast, with Burt Reynolds as Yaqui Joe, Fernando Lamas as Verdugo and Eric Braeden as Lieutenant Von Klemme. Martin Schwartz produced for 20th Century Fox, and the film runs 110 minutes.

On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.9 from 112 votes, placing it among the more modestly received westerns of its era and a long way from unanimous approval.
