Lary is a neurologist at the height of his career. Returning to Bucharest from a work trip to Paris, he has to collect his wife so the two of them can attend a family lunch marking a year since his father's death. At his mother's flat, relatives and guests gather to wait for the priest, and the conversation drifts into arguments about politics, world events and war. Over the course of the day, old tensions within the family come to the surface, and Lary is pushed to confront his own past and his place among these people.
The film is directed and written by Cristi Puiu, his second feature after Aurora in 2011, and produced by Anca Puiu. Mimi Brănescu plays Lary, with Judith State, Bogdan Dumlache, Dana Dogaru, Sorin Medeleni and Marin Grigore among the credited cast of 28. It is a Romanian drama, made as a co-production involving Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Romania, France and Croatia, and runs 173 minutes.
Made for about 1 million USD, the film reached a limited audience, reflected in a modest vote count. On TMDB it holds 6.9 out of 10 from around 110 votes.
