The Little Prince
Short description
The Little Prince is a musical fantasy based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's story about a pilot who crashes in the Sahara Desert and meets a boy from another planet. Stranded in the sand, the aviator comes to know the young prince and hears about the remarkable characters and creatures the boy encountered on his travels. Among them are a king, a fox and a snake, each of whom the prince meets as he tries to understand the world of adults.
Stanley Donen directed the film, the thirteenth of the sixteen features he made and his first since Staircase in 1969; his next was Lucky Lady. Alan Jay Lerner wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Steven Warner as the Little Prince, Richard Kiley as the Pilot, Gene Wilder as the Fox, Bob Fosse as the Snake, Donna McKechnie as the Rose and Joss Ackland as the King.
The film was released in November 1974 and runs 88 minutes. Made for a budget of 6 million dollars, it took about 1 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 4,300 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.9 from 128 votes, a smaller and more favourable sample.
