The Lion Woman

Set in Norway starting in 1912, this drama follows Eva Arctander, a girl born with hypertrichosis that covers her entire body in blonde hair. After her mother dies during childbirth, Eva is kept hidden inside her home by her father, Gustav, who wishes to shield her from the public eye. While isolated from society, Eva finds support in her nanny, Hannah, who advocates for her to be treated like any other person. As she grows into a teenager, Eva develops a talent for mathematics and eventually decides to leave her confined life to face the outside world and the reactions her appearance may provoke.

The film was directed and written by Vibeke Idsøe. The cast features Rolf Lassgård as Gustav, Kjersti Tveterås as Hannah, and Ida Ursin-Holm as the adult Eva, with Connie Nielsen and Lisa Loven Kongsli also appearing in the production. A co-production between Norway and Sweden, the movie was produced by Filmkameratene and Tre Vänner.
