Gate of Flesh

Set in the ruined slums of post-war Tokyo, this crime drama follows a group of sex workers living in a bombed-out building. Despite their unstable and precarious circumstances, the women maintain a determined resolve as they save a portion of their earnings to fund a future dance hall called Paradise.

The film was directed by Hideo Gosha and released in 1988. It follows his work on Tokyo Bordello from the previous year and is the eighth film in a chronology that began with Three Outlaw Samurai in 1964.
