Billionaire Boys Club

Billionaire Boys Club is a crime drama set in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, where a circle of affluent young men launch an investment scheme designed to multiply their money quickly. Their arrangement promises enormous returns, but it depends on a con man, and the venture soon turns perilous, with lethal consequences for those involved.

The film is based on a true story. Joe Hunt, played by Ansel Elgort, and Dean Karny, played by Taron Egerton, are among the group's central figures, with Kevin Spacey appearing as Ron Levin, the swindler whose cooperation the scheme requires. Emma Roberts, Jeremy Irvine and Thomas Cocquerel also appear among the sixty credited cast members. James Cox directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Captain Mauzner. It is the third feature Cox directed, following Highway in 2002 and Wonderland in 2003.

Released in July 2018, the film runs 108 minutes. Its reception was weak on both sides: critics' reviews average 3.5 out of 10, while audiences on TMDB give it 5.7 out of 10 from just over five hundred votes. Those figures point to a largely negative critical consensus and a modest, mixed audience response.
