A series of killings in London baffles Scotland Yard. One of the few people who benefits from the crimes is Edmund Bancroft, a crime writer whose columns and books feed on the murders. When a man is arrested and confesses, the killings continue regardless, deepening the mystery surrounding the case.
The film is a British horror production from 1959, directed by Arthur Crabtree and written by Herman Cohen and Aben Kandel. It was Crabtree's second feature as director, following The Strange Case of Dr. Manning two years earlier. Michael Gough leads the cast as Edmond Bancroft, with June Cunningham, Graham Curnow, Shirley Anne Field, Geoffrey Keen and Gerald Andersen among the credited performers, twenty-one in all. The production was a joint effort between American and British companies, including American International Pictures and Anglo-Amalgamated.
On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.9 out of 10, based on 47 votes, placing it in middling territory for a late-1950s horror title.
