A new threat approaches Earth from deep space: a creature that resembles Godzilla but is far more dangerous. Dubbed SpaceGodzilla, it lands on the planet and begins causing destruction. Japan sends the robot Moguera against it, but the machine is no match for the invader. Meanwhile, scientists are experimenting with a way to control Godzilla through a psychic link with Miki Saegusa, a young woman with telepathic abilities. When SpaceGodzilla takes Godzilla's son, the two monsters are set on a collision course.
The film is a 1994 Toho production directed by Kensho Yamashita, his second feature after Troubleman Laughs and Kills (1979), working from a screenplay by Hiroshi Kashiwabara and Kanji Kashiwa, with Shogo Tomiyama producing. Jun Hashizume, Megumi Odaka, Zenkichi Yoneyama, Akira Nakao, Yousuke Saito and Koichi Ueda lead the cast. Made for about 10 million dollars, it took roughly twice that at the worldwide box office.
On IMDb it holds a 5.8 rating from around 6,400 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.7 from about 253 votes, a warmer response from a much smaller group of users. The film belongs to the Heisei series of Godzilla movies and continues the trend of pitting the title monster against a science-fiction adversary in a story centered on psychics, robots and space-borne threats.
