Jimmy Logan has just lost his job, and his brother Clyde, a bartender and Iraq War veteran with a prosthetic arm, is tired of being mocked by customers. Convinced their family is cursed, the two brothers from West Virginia decide to rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway during the Coca-Cola 600, one of NASCAR's biggest races. Their sister Mellie joins the scheme, but the plan depends on Joe Bang, an expert safecracker and demolitions man who is currently behind bars. Getting him out, and getting the money, proves far messier than the brothers expected.
Steven Soderbergh directed Logan Lucky, the twenty-fourth of the thirty-five films he has directed in chronological order, arriving after Side Effects and before Unsane. Jules Asner wrote the screenplay, and Mark Johnson, Gregory Jacobs and Channing Tatum produced. Channing Tatum plays Jimmy, Adam Driver plays Clyde, Daniel Craig plays Joe Bang, and Riley Keough plays Mellie, with Katie Holmes and Katherine Waterston in supporting roles. The production involved 87 credited cast members and 125 credited crew.
Made for about 29 million US dollars, the film took in roughly 48 million worldwide, a modest multiple of its budget. It holds a 7.5 out of 10 critics' rating from 288 reviews, higher than its audience scores of 7 out of 10 on IMDb, from 176,000 votes, and 6.7 out of 10 on TMDB, from 3,954 votes.
