Hotel Artemis

In a near-future Los Angeles gripped by rioting, a nurse runs a secret clinic for criminals from the penthouse of a once-grand hotel called the Artemis. Membership is paid in advance, rules are strictly enforced, and only those on the inside are treated. On this night, a crew wounded during a failed bank robbery arrives seeking help, and their presence draws other figures from the city's underworld, including the man who owns the hotel and much of the city around it. As the streets outside grow more chaotic, tensions inside the building escalate.

Hotel Artemis is the second feature directed by Drew Pearce, following the 2014 short Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King. Pearce also wrote the screenplay, working with producers Marc Platt, Adam Siegel and Stephen Cornwell. Jodie Foster plays the nurse, Jean Thomas, alongside Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry and Jenny Slate. Roughly fifty cast members and sixty-six crew members are credited.

The film was released in June 2018 and runs 94 minutes. Made for about 15 million dollars, it took in around 12 million worldwide, a return below its production cost. Reception sits in mixed territory: on IMDb it holds 6.1 from 62,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.1 from 1,722 votes. A critics' rating of 5.8 from 180 reviews places professional opinion close to the audience scores.
