Short description
The inspiring life story of the late photojournalist, artist and activist Dan Eldon, who abandoned a comfortable life in London to document the struggle, heartbreak and hope of a war-torn and famine-ridden region of Africa.
What's left behind the scenes
- Actress Maria Bello, who plays Dan Eldon's mother, is a close friend of Kathy Eldon in real life.
- The speech delivered by Bello's character during Dan's funeral scene consists of the actual words spoken by Katie Eldon in memory of her son during his farewell.
- At different times, Daniel Radcliffe and Orlando Bloom were cast in the role of Dan Eldon.
- The film was shot in South Africa.
- The film is based on the 1997 book The Journey is the Destination: The Journals of Dan Eldon. It was edited by Kathy Eldon, Dan Eldon's mother, after the journalist's death in 1993, and contains over two hundred pages from the diaries he kept while traveling through more than forty countries.
