BLAME!

Set in a distant technological future, the story takes place in a massive, multi-layered city that replicates itself indefinitely. After a past infection caused automated systems to fail, humanity lost control of the urban environment and became targets for the Safeguard, a lethal defense system. A small community called the Electro-Fishers struggles to survive against food shortages and the threat of extinction. When a girl named Zuru accidentally alerts the Safeguard while searching for supplies, she is nearly eliminated. Her only hope is a wanderer named Killy, who searches for human genetic material to regain access to the city's control network.

Directed by Hiroyuki Seshita, this animated action and science fiction drama was produced by Polygon Pictures. It was released in 2017, following Seshita's work on Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters and preceding his work on Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle. The screenplay was written by Sadayuki Murai and produced by Yoshihiko Yamazaki. The voice cast features Takahiro Sakurai as Killy, Kana Hanazawa as Cibo, and Sora Amamiya as Zuru, alongside Mamoru Miyano, Aya Suzaki, and Nobunaga Shimazaki. The film has a runtime of 106 minutes.
