Short description
Nikolai (played by Sergei Dontsov) has been fired from his job as a music teacher and has to live in the gym until he finds a place to stay. Finally, he gets a communal room in the apartment of Gorokhov (Victor Mikhalkov). The room's previous inhabitant, an old lady, has died a year ago, and yet her cat, Maxi, is still in the locked room, healthy and fat. Soon, Nikolai and his neighbours discover the mystery: there is a window to Paris in the room. That's when the comedy begins - will the Russians be able to cope with the temptation to profit from the discovery?
What's left behind the scenes
- Director and screenwriter Yuri Mamin lived on Gorokhovaya Street for a long time. This is why he decided to give the surname Gorokhov to one of the film's main characters, played by Viktor Mikhailov.
- Director and screenwriter Yuri Mamin took the scene involving the destruction of the telephone booth from real life. Once, while walking his dog, he saw a clearly unstable young man suddenly attack a telephone booth for no apparent reason and smash it to pieces.
- Nicole was played by Agnès Soral. During filming, she was absolutely shocked by the state of the public toilets when she peeked into one and then realized it wasn't even functioning. Initially, the actress feared she wouldn't be able to convey the necessary emotions, but after visiting the restroom, she performed the scene without any problems.
- In one of the scenes, Nicole sees a swear word written on the wall of a house. Director and screenwriter Yuri Mamin wrote it himself for the filming of this scene.
- An unpleasant incident occurred during filming, which fortunately ended without any knife fights. While Agnès Soral's character was hiding in the trash from the police, an intoxicated group appeared out of nowhere and attacked the film crew. While the confrontation was taking place, the actress preferred to stay inside the dumpster.
