The Transporter

Frank Martin is a former Special Forces officer who works as a courier in the French Mediterranean, moving goods for clients who pay well and ask nothing in return. He follows a strict set of rules: he does not change the terms of a deal, he does not ask for names, and he never opens the package. A job for an American client known as Wall Street breaks that last rule when Frank checks on his cargo and finds a bound woman named Lai inside. She is being smuggled into France, and helping her pulls Frank into a human trafficking operation and brings a French detective named Tarconi onto his trail.

The film is directed by Corey Yuen, the eleventh of the fourteen features he directed, following The Avenging Fist and preceding So Close. Louis Leterrier also directed. Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen wrote the screenplay, with Besson producing alongside Steve Chasman. Jason Statham plays Frank, Shu Qi plays Lai, and François Berléand, Matt Schulze, Ric Young and Doug Rand appear in supporting roles.

Made for about 21 million dollars, the film took in roughly 44 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.8 from around 337,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 from about 6,000 votes, while critics rated it 5.7 from 125 reviews, so audiences have been somewhat warmer toward it than reviewers.
