Angel Has Fallen

Mike Banning, a Secret Service agent who has spent years protecting American presidents, is accused of orchestrating an attempt on the life of President Allan Trumbull. With Trumbull incapacitated and Banning's own agency and the FBI pursuing him, he goes on the run to identify who framed him and to stop whoever is behind the plot.

The film is the third in a series centred on Banning, with Gerard Butler returning in the lead role and also producing. Morgan Freeman plays Trumbull, Jada Pinkett Smith appears as Agent Thompson, Danny Huston plays Wade Jennings, and Nick Nolte plays Banning's father, Clay. Ric Roman Waugh directed from a screenplay he wrote with Robert Mark Kamen and Matt Cook; it followed his earlier features Felon, Snitch and Shot Caller and preceded Greenland, Kandahar, Greenland 2: Migration and Shelter.

Produced for a budget of forty million dollars, the film took about 147 million dollars worldwide, a strong return relative to its cost. Audiences rate it 6.6 out of 10 on TMDB across roughly four thousand votes, while its critics' rating stands at 4.9 out of 10 from 190 reviews, so opinion among critics was noticeably cooler than among viewers.
