Cold Sweat

Cold Sweat is a crime thriller about a man whose quiet life on the French Riviera is shattered by figures from his past. Joe Martin runs a boat rental business and lives with his wife and young daughter, seemingly settled and content. His history, however, is not so peaceful: he once served in the military and was involved in criminal activity, and he has since cut ties with the men he knew then. When former associates track him down, they demand his cooperation in a scheme and use his family as leverage to force his hand. The conflict turns on whether Joe can protect the people he loves while dealing with the criminals who refuse to let the past stay buried.

The film was directed by Terence Young, whose earlier credits include three James Bond entries and several other features; Cold Sweat was the ninth film he directed, arriving between Mayerling and Red Sun. Charles Bronson plays Joe Martin, with Liv Ullmann as his wife Fabienne and James Mason as Captain Ross. Jean Topart, Jill Ireland and Michel Constantin appear in supporting roles. A Belgian, Italian and French co-production running 94 minutes, it was released in December 1970. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7 from around 3,600 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5.7 from a much smaller voter base.
