Cindy Campbell is a television reporter looking for a breakout story when she stumbles onto strange events that seem to threaten the whole planet. Mysterious circles have appeared in a farmer's field, a videotape is said to bring death to anyone who watches it, and the President himself appears to be losing his grip. Cindy's friend Brenda gets hold of the tape and is warned she has only days to live, while a young white rapper named George becomes Cindy's romantic interest. Together they try to work out what connects the tape, the circles and an expected alien landing, and whether Cindy is the one who can help the President head off an invasion.

The film is a comedy directed by David Zucker, working from a screenplay by Craig Mazin and Pat Proft. It is the seventh feature Zucker directed, arriving between BASEketball and My Boss's Daughter, and the third entry in a series that had previously targeted the slasher genre; this instalment widens its aim to alien-invasion and supernatural-horror films. Anna Faris and Regina Hall return as Cindy and Brenda, joined by Simon Rex, Anthony Anderson, Charlie Sheen and Leslie Nielsen. With 63 credited cast members and 239 credited crew, the production was a substantial one: it cost 45 million US dollars and returned 221 million worldwide.

On IMDb the film holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 171,000 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 6 out of 10 from a much smaller base of 4,662 votes. Critics' ratings place it at 5 out of 10 from 126 reviews, roughly in line with what audiences reported.
