The Changeover

Set in a poor suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand, this fantasy horror thriller follows sixteen-year-old Laura Chant. When an ancient spirit begins to drain the life from her four-year-old brother, Jacko, to regain its own youth, Laura discovers she possesses supernatural abilities. She must learn to use these powers to fight the entity and save her brother. Along the way, Laura uncovers her true identity and finds support from others with similar gifts.

The film was co-directed by Miranda Harcourt and Stuart McKenzie, who also wrote the screenplay. The production was a collaboration between the United Kingdom and New Zealand through Firefly Films. The cast features Erana James as Laura, with Timothy Spall, Melanie Lynskey, Lucy Lawless, and Nicholas Galitzine in primary roles.
