Blonde Crazy

Blonde Crazy follows Bert Harris, a bellhop at a hotel in a small Midwestern town who runs dice games and small cons that leave nearly everyone at the hotel in his debt. The one person who unsettles him is Anne Roberts, a maid who was hired through his own influence and who has no interest in his advances, holding out instead for an honest man. Bert's ambitions reach beyond the hotel, and Anne's beauty makes her a natural partner in the larger schemes he wants to run, turning a failed courtship into a working partnership aimed at swindling wealthy marks.

Roy Del Ruth directed the film, which sits among his early 1930s work, between Conquest and The Maltese Falcon in his filmography, and Warner Bros. Pictures produced it. James Cagney plays Bert opposite Joan Blondell as Anne, with Louis Calhern, Noel Francis, Ray Milland and Guy Kibbee among the credited cast of 31. Running 79 minutes, the film blends comedy, crime, drama and romance. On IMDb it holds a 7.1 rating from around 2,600 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7 from 46 votes, indicating a modest but steady audience across both platforms.
