Arthur 3: The War of the Two Worlds concludes the trilogy that began with Arthur and the Invisibles. Maltazard, the villain known as the Evil M, has grown to human size and slipped into the world above ground, where he intends to raise an army of giants and take control of the universe. Arthur remains trapped in the body of a Minimoy, tiny in a world built for people, and the only way back to his normal size lies in his grandparents' house. Together with Princess Selenia and her brother Betameche, he sets out across the human world to reach it, while Maltazard's son Darkos appears to have switched sides. The three companions travel by any means they can find, determined to end the conflict between the two worlds.
Luc Besson directed and co-wrote the film with Céline Garcia, producing it through EuropaCorp. It is the twelfth of the twenty features he has directed, arriving between The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec and The Lady. Freddie Highmore voices Arthur, with Mia Farrow as Granny, Robert Stanton as Armand and Penny Balfour as Rose Montgomery among a credited cast of twenty-one. Made for a budget of 65 million dollars, it returned about 31 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.5 from roughly 12,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 from about 1,650, while the critics' rating stands at 4.8 from five reviews, below both audience scores.
