The Wind Will Carry Us

A group of men arrive from Tehran in a remote Kurdish village in Iran, accompanied by a boy who guides them to their destination. They tell the villagers they are looking for treasure in the cemetery on the hill, but their real purpose is to wait for an elderly, gravely ill woman to die so they can record the funeral rites. The leader of the group, an engineer named Behzad, settles into village life while the wait drags on. As the days pass, his encounters with the locals gradually change how he sees his own existence.

Abbas Kiarostami directed and wrote the screenplay, and produced the film with Marin Karmitz for MK2. It was the fifteenth of the twenty-two films he directed in chronological order, coming after Taste of Cherry and before Tickets. The cast is led by Behzad Dorani as Behzad and Farzad Sohrabi as Farzad.

The film runs 118 minutes and was made as an Iranian-French co-production. It holds a rating of 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb from around 14,000 votes, and 7.1 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 200 votes, indicating a widely recognized and positively regarded work among viewers, with the much larger IMDb sample reflecting its standing as one of the director's better known titles.
