What's left behind the scenes
- Filming took place from September 12 to November 23, 2005, but the premiere did not occur until six years later, on September 30, 2011.
- The film's premiere was planned for 2007, but the director and screenwriter Kenneth Lonergan became embroiled in disputes with Fox Searchlight Pictures over the final cut of the film. These disputes lasted another four years and resulted in several lawsuits.
- During post-production, when Fox Searchlight Pictures and producer Gary Gilbert refused to continue funding the film and demanded its release, Kenneth Lonergan turned to his childhood friend, actor Matthew Broderick, and borrowed the money from him to continue the project.
