Nathan Bickerman moves his wife Susan and young son Connor to a lakeside house once owned by the boy's aunt, in an area where deadly crocodile attacks occurred years earlier. Residents insist the reptiles are gone, but Connor discovers surviving hatchlings and secretly feeds them. The crocodiles grow to enormous size, and when the boy's regular visits stop, the hungry animals leave the water in search of food, putting the family and the surrounding community in danger. The story stands alone as the third entry in the series, following the earlier Lake Placid films.
Griff Furst directed the film, the first in the directing career listed in the facts, from a screenplay by David Reed; Jeffery Beach and Phillip J. Roth produced. Colin Ferguson plays Nathan, with Kirsty Mitchell as Susan and Michael Ironside as Sheriff Tony Willinger. Yancy Butler and Kacey Clarke also appear. Made for around 3 million dollars through Stage 6 Films and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, it was a direct-to-video production shot in Bulgaria.
Audience response has been weak. On IMDb it holds a rating of 3.3 out of 10 from more than five thousand votes, and on TMDB it sits at 5 out of 10 from a few hundred votes.
