Short description
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot follows the long-running stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob, who find themselves stripped of the right to use their own names after a legal manoeuvre tied to a Hollywood studio. The studio now controls the characters based on them and is preparing a reboot of the Bluntman and Chronic film. Furious at this turn of events, the pair set out across the country for Hollywood to stop the production. Along the way they cross paths with figures from their past, including an old girlfriend of Jay's, and Jay learns he has a teenage daughter named Milly.
Kevin Smith directed and wrote the film, his fourteenth directorial feature in chronological order, following Holidays and preceding Clerks III. Jason Mewes returns as Jay and Smith plays Silent Bob, with Harley Quinn Smith as Milly, Aparna Brielle, Shannon Elizabeth and Brian O'Halloran among the cast. The production involved Lions Gate Films, Saban Films, Miramax and View Askew Productions.
Made for a budget of 10 million US dollars, the film took about 1 million dollars worldwide. It runs 105 minutes. On IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from roughly 30,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.7 out of 10 from around 628 votes. The film critics' rating stands at 6.5 out of 10 from 39 reviews, higher than the audience scores on both platforms.

- Kevin Smith decided to make this film while in the hospital recovering from a heart attack in 2018. He couldn't bear the thought of his last film being the horror-comedy 'Yoga Hosers' (2016). He also wanted to have a good experience working with Jason Mewes, as their last collaboration in this area (the 2001 comedy 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back') was marred by Mewes's struggles with drugs and alcohol.
- According to Kevin Smith, Stan Lee (1922-2018) was supposed to play a significant role in the third film, but unfortunately, he passed away before filming began. Smith also said that the film will include a dedication to Lee's memory.
