The Snows of Kilimanjaro

Harry Street is an American writer on safari in Africa who develops a severe infection after injuring his leg. Confined to a camp near Mount Kilimanjaro while his wife Helen cares for him, he waits for rescue and drifts in and out of feverish memories. His thoughts move between his time in Paris early in his career, his marriage to the model Cynthia Green, his time in Spain, and the travels that shaped his writing and his relationships. Facing the possibility that he may not survive, he looks back over his choices and the people he loved.

The film was directed by Henry King and released by 20th Century Fox in 1952, adapted by screenwriter Casey Robinson from Ernest Hemingway's short story of the same name. It followed King's David and Bathsheba (1951) in his filmography, with Roy Ward Baker also credited as a director. Gregory Peck stars as Harry, alongside Susan Hayward as Helen, Ava Gardner as Cynthia Green, Hildegard Knef, Leo G. Carroll and Torin Thatcher among a credited cast of 56.

The production was a substantial commercial success for its time, taking about 13 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.1/10 from around 6,500 votes, and on TMDB 5.9/10 from roughly 105 votes, while critics gave it 6.3/10 from eight reviews.
