Madame

Anne and Bob Fredericks, a wealthy American couple, have settled into a grand house in Paris, where Anne takes great care over the impression she makes on high society. When a dinner she is hosting ends up with thirteen places set at the table, she panics at the bad luck this seems to invite and persuades Maria, the household maid, to dress up and join the guests as a mysterious Spanish noblewoman. The plan holds until Maria catches the interest of David, a British art expert and collector, and the two are drawn to each other. Anne, unwilling to see her carefully arranged evening unravel, sets out to put a stop to the affair.

Amanda Sthers directed the film and wrote the screenplay with Matthew Robbins. It was her second feature as director, following her 2010 debut, and was produced by Cyril Colbeau-Justin through StudioCanal, PM and LGM Films. Toni Collette and Harvey Keitel head the cast as Anne and Bob, alongside Rossy de Palma as Maria, Michael Smiley as David, Tom Hughes as Bob's son Steven and Violaine Gillibert as Hélène Bernard, with twenty-two performers credited in all. The French production runs ninety-one minutes and mixes comedy, drama and romance.

Released in August 2017, the film holds a rating of 5.9 out of 10 on TMDB from 328 votes.
