Agáva

Set in the summer of 1947 in a southern Slovakian border town, this drama follows the arrival of a respected builder and his young wife, Nada. Nada attracts the attention of Daniel, a local teacher struggling with the aftermath of his experiences in World War II. While Nada initially resists Daniel's advances, her resolve weakens as a local agave plant blooms after thirty years. This romantic conflict takes place against a historical backdrop where the end of the war is followed by the looming threat of a communist coup that endangered the Slovak intelligentsia.

The film was written and directed by Ondrej Šulaj. The main cast features Katarína Šafaříková as Nada, Marek Geišberg as Daniel Oresansky, Milan Kňažko as Hampl, and Éva Bandor as Stefina.
