Wolf Warrior 2

Leng Feng, a former member of China's elite special forces, has left military life behind and settled in an African coastal country. When rebel fighters and a foreign mercenary company bring violence to the civilians around him, he abandons his quiet existence and takes up arms again, this time to protect people with no one else to defend them.

The film is directed by Wu Jing, who also stars as Leng Feng and co-wrote the screenplay with Dong Qun and Liu Yi. It follows Wolf Warrior (2015) in his filmography, after his 2008 debut Legendary Assassin. Frank Grillo plays the mercenary leader Big Daddy, with Celina Jade, Hans Zhang, Wu Gang and Chunyu Shanshan among the supporting cast.

Released in July 2017, Wolf Warrior 2 was made for about 30 million US dollars and became a major commercial success, earning roughly 870 million US dollars worldwide. Audience reactions are moderate: it holds a 5.9 rating on IMDb from around 9,600 votes and a 6.5 on TMDB from roughly 350 votes, while a critics' score of 5.3 from 15 reviews places it slightly below both audience averages.
