The members of the Kitauji High School concert band strive to win a gold medal at the regional Kansai competition. To prepare, the students attend a summer camp where they receive instruction from their advisor, Noboru Taki, and several professional musicians. While Kumiko Oumae and her peers work toward reaching the national level, they face internal challenges, including the potential departure of Asuka Tanaka and the return of a former student. This animated drama serves as a recap of the television series' second season, incorporating new footage.
Directed by Tatsuya Ishihara and Taichi Ogawa, the film was produced by Kyoto Animation. For Ishihara, this was his fifth directed feature, following Sound! Euphonium The Movie: Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band. It marked the directorial debut for Ogawa.
