The Loved Ones

Brent Mitchell is a high school senior still reeling from a car crash that killed his father and left his mother emotionally shattered. He drifts through days of marijuana and heavy metal, finding some relief in his relationship with his girlfriend Holly, who is also his date for the end-of-year prom. When a quiet classmate named Lola asks him to the dance, he politely turns her down. Lola does not take rejection well, and with help from her father she abducts Brent and stages a celebration of her own, one he must survive.

Sean Byrne wrote and directed this Australian horror film, his first feature, followed by The Devil's Candy and Dangerous Animals. Xavier Samuel plays Brent, Robin McLeavy is Lola, John Brumpton is Daddy Stone, and Victoria Thaine plays Holly. The film was produced by Michael Boughen and Mark Lazarus, with a budget of about 4 million USD.
