Undercover Grandpa is a Canadian family comedy about Jake Bouchard, a shy seventeen-year-old who finally manages to arrange a date with Angie, the girl he has been hoping to get close to. Before anything can come of it, she disappears under strange circumstances, and Jake turns to his grandfather for help. Grandpa, it turns out, has kept a large part of his past hidden: during the Second World War he belonged to an unusual unit known as The Devil's Scum. He gathers his old comrades once more so they can help track the missing girl down, though the veterans are no longer as spry as they once were.
Érik Canuel directed the film, his fourth feature after Bon Cop Bad Cop, Bad Hair Day and 9, from a screenplay by Jeff Schechter. James Caan plays Grandpa, with Jessica Walter, Louis Gossett Jr., Kenneth Welsh and Paul Sorvino among the veterans, and Dylan Everett as Jake; twenty-five cast members are credited in all. Ronald Gilbert and Arnie Zipursky produced the film for CCI Entertainment.
The film runs 99 minutes and was released in July 2017. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.3 out of 10 from around 2,800 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.7 out of 10 from 81 votes, indicating a modest and largely mixed response from viewers rather than a widely embraced one.
