Greta

Frances McCullen is a young woman adjusting to life in Manhattan after the death of her mother. When she finds a handbag left behind on the subway, she tracks down its owner, Greta Hideg, a widowed piano teacher who lives alone and seems starved for company. The two women quickly become close, filling a gap in each other's life, until Frances begins to suspect that Greta's loneliness is not the whole story and that the older woman's interest in her is more calculated than it first appeared. What began as an act of kindness turns into something she cannot easily escape.

Neil Jordan directed and co-wrote the film with Ray Wright, working from a story by Wright. It is the fourteenth of the fifteen features Jordan has directed in chronological order, arriving after Byzantium and before Marlowe. Chloë Grace Moretz plays Frances, Isabelle Huppert plays Greta, and the cast includes Maika Monroe, Colm Feore, Stephen Rea and Zawe Ashton, with twenty-two credited cast members and ninety-one credited crew.

Released in 2019, the film runs 98 minutes and was produced across Hong Kong, Ireland, Canada, the United States and Korea. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 from roughly 42,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.6 from about 1,500 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 from 284 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores.
