2048: Nowhere to Run

Set a year before the events of Blade Runner 2049, this short film follows Sapper Morton, a replicant living quietly and trying to get through each day without slipping back into the violence of his past. When people close to him are threatened, the gentler side he shows the world gives way to the strength and force he is capable of. The story unfolds in the same futuristic world as the feature it precedes.

Luke Scott directed, working from a screenplay he wrote with Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. It is the second of the five films he has directed, following Morgan in 2016 and preceding 2036: Nexus Dawn later the same year. Dave Bautista plays Sapper Morton, the role he also takes in Blade Runner 2049. The cast also includes Gérard Miller as Salt, Gaia Ottman as Ella, Orion Ben as Mother, Adam Savage as a shop patron and Björn Freiberg as a spectator. Warner Bros. Pictures, Scott Free Productions and Alcon Entertainment produced the six-minute film, released on 14 September 2017.
