The Purity of Vengeance

The Purity of Vengeance follows Carl Mørck and his partner Assad, investigators with Department Q, a Copenhagen unit that handles old unsolved cases. When three mummified bodies are found hidden behind a wall in an apartment, seated around a table with one chair left empty, the pair trace the discovery back to a closed institution for women on the island of Sprogø, where residents were subjected to forced sterilization. The fourth place at the table suggests another victim, and the detectives must work out who was meant to sit there.

The film is directed by Christoffer Boe, whose feature work also includes A Taste of Hunger and Special Unit – The First Murder. Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Fares Fares lead the cast as Mørck and Assad, with Johanne Louise Schmidt as Rose Knudsen and Søren Pilmark as Marcus Jacobsen. The screenplay was written by Nikolaj Arcel, Bo Hr. Hansen and Mikkel Nørgaard, and Louise Vesth produced. It is a Danish, German, Norwegian and Swedish co-production with a budget of 39 million USD and a runtime of 118 minutes.

Released in October 2018, the film has an IMDb rating of 7.4 from around 22,000 votes and a TMDB rating of 7.1 from 562 votes, indicating a solid reception from viewers.
