Liam

Set in Liverpool during the Great Depression, this drama focuses on a working-class Irish Catholic family. The story follows young Liam and his sister Teresa as their lives are upended when their father loses his job following the closure of a shipyard. While Liam struggles with a stutter and the pressures of his religious education, Teresa works as a maid for the Jewish family that owned the shipyard and becomes involved in the employer's secret affair. The family's stability collapses as the father turns to fascist ideologies, blaming Jewish owners and Irish laborers for their poverty, eventually leading to a violent confrontation.
