Dangerous Game

Eddie Israel is a New York filmmaker who travels to Los Angeles to shoot what he considers the most important project of his career, a psychological drama called "Mother of Mirrors" about a wealthy husband and his emotionally distant wife, with a crime thread running through the script. Harvey Keitel plays the director, Madonna plays the lead actress Sarah Jennings, and James Russo plays her co-star Francis Burns, whose reluctance to work opposite her adds to the tension on set.

As filming continues, the line between the story and the director's own life blurs. Eddie pushes his actors harder, becomes increasingly obsessive about the material, and starts an affair with Sarah that pulls his marriage to Madlyn further apart. The film was directed by Abel Ferrara, the seventh of the seventeen he has directed in chronological order, following Body Snatchers and preceding The Addiction, and written by Nicholas St. John, with Mary Kane producing.

Produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer with the Cecchi Gori Group and Maverick Picture Company, the film had a budget of ten million dollars and earned around one million worldwide. It holds a 5.7 rating on TMDB from 87 votes, alongside a critics' rating of 4 out of 10 from 16 reviews, with the audience score running somewhat higher than the critics' one.
