Motorama

Motorama is a 1991 American adventure comedy about Gus, a ten-year-old boy who leaves a home life marked by abuse. Taking the money he has saved and stealing a Mustang, he sets out across a surreal version of America to play a promotional card game sponsored by the Chimera Gas Company. The prize is a large cash sum, and the road brings him into contact with a range of strangers, some helpful and many not. His journey eventually leads him to the company itself, where he discovers that the game is not being played by its stated rules.

The film was directed by Barry Shils from a screenplay by Joseph Minion, and produced by Donald P. Borchers. Jordan Christopher Michael plays Gus, with Martha Quinn, Susan Tyrrell, John Laughlin and Michael Naegel among the credited cast of forty; eighty-three crew members are listed. It was made for a budget of two million dollars, a modest figure for a feature that moves through a series of locations and encounters.
