Sui Dhaaga - Made in India

Sui Dhaaga - Made in India follows Mauji, a tailor from a family of tailors, and his wife Mamta, an embroiderer, who live with his parents in a small Indian village. Mauji works at a clothing factory, where he discovers that finished garments are being labeled as made in China by another firm. He leaves the job and, encouraged by Mamta, sets out to build his own clothing business, aiming for the quality and recognition of the international fashion world.

The film was directed by Sharat Katariya, who also wrote the screenplay, with Maneesh Sharma and Aditya Chopra producing for Yash Raj Films. Varun Dhawan plays Mauji and Anushka Sharma plays Mamta, with Raghubir Yadav, Yamini Das, Sawan Tank and Namit Das in supporting roles. Released in late September 2018 and running 150 minutes, it blends comedy, drama and family themes around the struggles of a small-business dream in a country with a wide gap between rich and poor.

Made on a budget of about 6 million dollars, the film earned a 6.8 rating from roughly 11,000 votes on IMDb, while on TMDB it holds a 7.2 from about 101 votes. The larger IMDb sample points to a generally positive but not uncritical response, and the smaller TMDB figure is somewhat higher.
