Short description
A wealthy, possessive husband's investigation reignites his young wife's past love, leading them to plot against him. As obstacles fall away, their passion faces a new test.
What's left behind the scenes
- For the role of Paola, director Michelangelo Antonioni wanted to invite Gene Tierney; however, at the time, he was still an unknown European director and could not afford her. Once, during lunch at director Luchino Visconti's home, he met 19-year-old Lucia Bosè, the winner of the 1947 Miss Italy title. On Visconti's advice, he organized a screen test with her and subsequently cast her in the role, although he was initially plagued by vague doubts due to Bosè's youth.
