Michael travels to Berlin hoping to win back his ex-girlfriend Gabi, using the return of her keys as an excuse to see her. At her apartment he finds only two plumbers working on the heating, and learns from Harper, the young apprentice, that Gabi has stepped out. Moments later the older plumber turns violent, and Michael and Harper barricade themselves inside the flat. A virus is spreading rapidly through the city, turning ordinary people into frenzied attackers, and the building is soon surrounded by them.
Marvin Kren directs this German-Austrian horror thriller, his second feature after the 2009 short Schautag and the film that preceded Blood Glacier and Mordkommission Berlin 1. Benjamin Hessler wrote the screenplay, Sigrid Hoerner produced, and the cast is led by Michael Fuith as Michael, Theo Trebs as Harper, Anka Graczyk as Gabi, Emily Cox and Steffen Münster among 26 credited performers. Running just over an hour, it stays close to its two main characters as they try to survive and find Gabi, whose whereabouts remain uncertain.
The film was released in 2010. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 from around 6,200 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.9 from a much smaller base of 144 votes, suggesting a modest but lasting audience. A critics' rating of 7.1 from eight reviews places it somewhat above those viewer scores.
