Duck Butter

Duck Butter is a 2018 American comedy-drama about two women who meet and, frustrated by the dishonesty they encounter in dating, agree to spend twenty-four hours together without a break. Their plan is meant to speed past the usual cautious stages of a new relationship and reach real intimacy quickly, but sustaining that honesty for a full day proves harder than either expected. Alia Shawkat plays Naima and Laia Costa plays Sergio, with Mae Whitman, Hong Chau, Kate Berlant and Kumail Nanjiani among the supporting cast.

The film was directed by Miguel Arteta, who wrote the screenplay with Shawkat. It followed Beatriz at Dinner (2017) in his filmography and came before Like a Boss (2020); his earlier directing work includes The Good Girl (2002), Youth in Revolt (2009), Cedar Rapids (2011) and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014). It was produced by Mel Eslyn and Natalie Qasabian for Duplass Brothers Productions, runs 94 minutes, and carries 35 credited cast members and 89 credited crew members.
