I Want to Eat Your Pancreas

Haruki Shiga is a quiet high school student who keeps to himself and prefers books to company. During a hospital visit, he comes across a diary titled "Living with Dying" and realizes it belongs to Sakura Yamauchi, a popular classmate whose warm and outgoing nature makes her a favorite among her peers. The diary reveals that Sakura has a terminal pancreatic illness, a secret known only to her family until Haruki learns of it. Unable to ignore what he has read, he begins spending time with her, and the two form an unlikely bond despite their very different temperaments. Their relationship unfolds over the months she has left, changing how Haruki sees both her and himself.

The 2018 Japanese animated drama was directed and written by Shinichiro Ushijima and produced by Shinichiro Kashiwada and Yuma Takahashi, with Aniplex among the production companies. Mahiro Takasugi voices Haruki and Lynn voices Sakura, while Yukiyo Fujii, Yuma Uchida, Jun Fukushima and Atsuko Tanaka are also in the cast. The film grossed around 34 million dollars worldwide, a solid result for a feature of its kind, and audiences have rated it highly, with an 8.1 rating on IMDb from some 35,000 votes and an 8.2 on TMDB.
