Short description

In a distant future, civilization has collapsed and nature has reclaimed the Earth. Dense jungles, forests, wetlands and deserts cover what were once cities, and small bands of survivors live as hunters, holding on to fragments of the knowledge their ancestors left behind. A mysterious infection spreads among them, turning those who catch it into aggressive, monstrous beings. When an attack forces a group to flee their village, three young hunters set out in search of a legendary place said to hold the key to humanity's survival, accompanied by a wanderer who may know the way.

The Lost Future is a 2010 television adventure film directed by Mikael Salomon, released after Fallen and before Blue Lagoon: The Awakening in a run of films that also includes Hard Rain, Big Driver and others. Sean Bean plays Amal, with Annabelle Wallis as Dorel, Corey Sevier as Savan, Eleanor Tomlinson as Miru, Jonathan Pienaar as Gagen and Hannah Tointon as Giselle. Moritz Polter produced the German, American and South African co-production, which runs ninety minutes.

On TMDB the film holds a rating of 4.9 out of 10 from 161 votes, indicating a modest reception among those who have seen it.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Corey Sevier's character wears a medallion around his neck in the form of a slightly modified 'biohazard' symbol.
  • The role of Amal was written specifically for Sean Bean even before the actor agreed to participate in the project.
  • The characters' costumes consist primarily of recycled materials (such as plastic bags and bottles)—essentially whatever the survivors could find.
