Plus One

Ben King and Alice Mori are long-time friends, both single, facing a summer crowded with weddings. To avoid attending alone and to have someone to share the experience with, they agree to accompany each other as platonic dates to every ceremony on their calendar. Over the course of the season, the arrangement puts their friendship under pressure as they navigate the expectations and emotions that surround other people's celebrations.

Jeff Chan and Andrew Rhymer directed and wrote the film together, with Deborah Liebling also producing. It is the second feature Chan directed, following Suckerpunch, and the first for Rhymer. Jack Quaid and Maya Erskine lead the cast as Ben and Alice, supported by Beck Bennett, Ed Begley Jr., Rosalind Chao and Tom Yi, among a credited cast and crew of roughly one hundred people.

Plus One runs 98 minutes and was released in June 2019. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 from over thirteen thousand votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.8 from several hundred votes. A critics' rating of 7.1 from 65 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores, suggesting a warmer response from reviewers than from the wider viewing public.
