Raging Fire

Raging Fire follows Bong, a Hong Kong police officer whose record of closing difficult cases has earned him respect within the force, though his uncompromising manner has not made his career easy. His past catches up with him when a group of masked criminals attacks an operation and kills most of the officers involved. The raid is led by Ngo, a former protégé of Bong's who once looked up to him. After a serious incident sent Ngo to prison, he emerged determined to settle accounts with everyone he holds responsible for his ruined life, his old mentor included.

The film is the last directed by Benny Chan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Tim Tong Yiu-Leung and Ryan Ling Wai-Chun and produced it alongside star Donnie Yen. It stands late in a filmography that includes A Moment of Romance, Who Am I?, Gen-X Cops, New Police Story, Shaolin and The White Storm, and it shares the contemporary Hong Kong action-crime territory of several of those earlier titles. Yen plays Bong, Nicholas Tse plays Ngo, and the cast also features Qin Lan, Ray Lui, Simon Yam and Ben Yuen Foo-Wa, among 133 credited performers.

Released in July 2021, the film took about 205 million dollars worldwide, a strong result for a Hong Kong production. On IMDb it holds 6.5/10 from roughly 6,900 votes, while on TMDB it has 7.2/10 from a much smaller pool of around 316 votes. A critics' rating of 7.6/10 from 52 reviews places professional assessments of the film above the audience score on IMDb.
