Mutant Girls Squad

Rin is a shy high school student who is bullied by her classmates and feels out of place in her own life. On her sixteenth birthday she learns that her father passed on something unusual: she is only partly human, and her body is beginning to change in ways she cannot control. When armed attackers interrupt the celebration and kill her parents, her dormant mutation surfaces and turns her own flesh into a weapon. She is taken in by other mutants known as Hiruko, who train their inherited abilities for a fight against the society that hunts them. Rin must decide how far she is willing to go for revenge, and whether the war between humans and mutants can end any other way.

The film is a Japanese action horror production from 2010, directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura, Noboru Iguchi and Tak Sakaguchi, with a screenplay by Iguchi and Jun Tsugita. It followed Nishimura's Tokyo Gore Police and Iguchi's The Machine Girl, and its exaggerated body-based combat places it alongside that period of their work. Yumi Sugimoto plays Rin, with Yuko Takayama, Suzuka Morita, Cay Izumi, Maki Mizui and Asami among the cast. The film runs 85 minutes and was released in May 2010. On IMDb it holds 5.7/10 from around 2,200 votes, while on TMDB it has 5.5/10 from 66 votes, indicating a modest but committed audience for its style of genre filmmaking.
