Fatima

Set in Portugal in 1917, Fatima follows three young shepherd children who say they have seen the Virgin Mary. Their account spreads across the country even as government officials and Church authorities press them to take it back. Word of the reported visits draws crowds of pilgrims to the town, hoping to witness something miraculous.

The drama was directed by Marco Pontecorvo, who wrote the screenplay with Valerio D'Annunzio and Barbara Nicolosi. It is one of two features he directed in 2020, after his earlier film Pa-ra-da. The cast includes Harvey Keitel, Sônia Braga, Goran Visnjic, Joaquim de Almeida, Lúcia Moniz and Joana Ribeiro, among 38 credited performers, with 43 credited crew members. The production was a Portuguese and American co-production from Rose Pictures, Origin Entertainment Pictures and Panorama Films.

Released in August 2020, the film took about 1 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from roughly 4,600 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.2 from about 201 votes. A critics' score of 5.9 from 51 reviews sits below both audience figures, which suggests viewers responded more warmly than reviewers did. It runs 113 minutes.
